Microsoft has Officially Stopped Selling the "Kinect" v2 for Windows and is Instead Directing Customers to the XBox One Version + an Adapter for the PC.
It’s No Surprise that, Microsoft has Decided to Sell a Single Version of its "Kinect" Sensor, especially Considering that, there were Virtually No Differences between the PC and the XBox Models, and that the company has recently released an adapter for the Xbox One model. Kinect for Windows has Always been a Popular Accessory, especially for Developers and Researchers in Certain Fields. However, Unlike the Previous Models, the 2 Devices Released with the v2 Generation, were “Functionally Identical”.
In Other Words, Up until Now, Microsoft was Increasing its Production and Support Costs, by Creating 2, Almost Identical, Versions of the Same Device.
Not Only that but, according to the Company, there was High Demand for the Windows Version of the Peripheral and Production Couldn’t Keep Up. Now, that the 2 Devices Have been Unified into a Single Business, Access to the Peripheral Should be Easier.
As for those of you Who Have already Purchased the Windows Version of the Kinect, Worry Not, as the Company is still Fully Committed to Support the Device throughout its Lifetime.
