A Running Theme in 2015's Blockbusters is Old Hollywood Franchises Looking to Recapture their Glory Days with New Installments after Years (or Decades) of Inactivity. Some (Mad Max and Star Wars) Have been Able to Excite Fans with Trailer Footage – while Others (Jurassic World) Have Generated a More Mixed Reception from Viewers. The upcoming "Terminator: Genisys" has so Far Fallen into the Latter Camp. The Quasi-Reboot has Faced an Uphill Climb during its Pre-Release Phase, with Some Poorly Photoshopped EW Covers and the 1st Trailer Raising More Eyebrows than Selling Moviegoers on the Final Product. With just Under 5 Months to Go before, its July 2015 Premiere, "Genisys" Needs All the Good Publicity it Can Get. Thanks to Some SPOILER-FREE Script Reviews, the Tide May be Turning in its Favor. TheArnoldFans Have Acquired 2 Breakdowns from Individuals Who Claim to Have Read a Version of the "Genisys" Script by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier (Who also Co-Wrote this Summer’s, Mission: Impossible 5). If there is any Truth to their Words, then Longtime Fans of the Franchise apparently Have Nothing to Fear. Though the New Film May Not Reach the Heights of the Classics that James Cameron Helmed, "Genisys" is Shaping Up to be a Solid Piece of Genre Entertainment.
First Up we Have 'Greg', Who Describes the Film as “three action packed movies in one”. He Believes that Fans will Appreciate the 1st Act of "Genisys", which will Deal with the Future War, Featuring an Adult 'John Connor' (Jason Clarke) and 'Kyle Reese' (Jai Courtney) doing Battle against the Machines (since this was an Element Underused in Cameron’s Works). 'Greg' also Spoke Enthusiastically about the Nostalgia Feel "Genisys" has, as Certain Locations and Sequences will Bring Back Memories of the 1984 Original. 'Greg' Seemed to Enjoy the Action Bits as well, Saying in his Review that, "Genisys" has “the same action-packed chase scenes, shoot outs and Terminator vs. Terminator fights” that Fans would Expect from an Entry in this Franchise.
It Seems that, the Genre Thrills Ramp Up as the Movie Goes on, with the 3rd Act Receiving Strong Words of Encouragement from 'Greg' :
“Of course you know Skynet isn’t going to go out without a fight. This is when a new and very powerful threat appears. As action packed and exciting as the first two portions of the movie are, the third portion of the movie has even more non-stop big explosive action with tons of destruction and surprises.”
It’s Unknown at this Point What those Surprises May be but, they Appear to be the Good Kind. 'Greg' Capped Off his Review by Stating that, the Screenplay Gave Director, Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) Lots of Good Material to Work with and that, "Genisys" will End Up “rivaling any recent summer blockbuster“ if Viewers Go in with an Open Mind. Sounds Good to us. The 2nd Review was Supplied by 'Jay', Who Seemed to Share the Sentiments Expressed by 'Greg'. In his Review, 'Jay' 1st Said that, he was “Pleasantly Surprised” by What he Read, Expressing that, "Genisys" will Deliver in “action, sfx and story”. He also was a Fan of the Nostalgia Element the New Film has but, Praised the “Back to the Future twist” of Recreating Old Scenes; Meaning that, in "Genisys", they Don’t Play Out like they did Before. That’s a Good Sign and Should Keep the Audience Guessing. Part of What Made the 1st 2 Terminator Films Work so Well is that, they were essentially Sci-Fi / Horror Films that were Carried by Sequences of High Tension and Suspense.
Those Hoping that "Genisys" will be Able to Generate that Same Feel, will be Happy to See that a Bulk of 'Jay’s' Review, Deals with his Pleasure regarding the Movie’s Tone:
“People new to the franchise and fans alike should also be happy as I think this actually feels like a Terminator movie, unlike Rise of the Machines and Salvation. The atmosphere feels gritty and exciting, especially in the future war scenes. I can’t give spoilers but, sfx is going to pushed to the limit for war scenes at the start, I really hope they can do it justice onscreen.”
Seeing as they were Directed by James Cameron, the 1st 2 Terminator Films are also Seen by Many as Landmark Occasions in the Realm of Visual Effects. Most Notable with the T-1000 in Judgment Day, One of the Series’ Calling Cards is Testing the Boundaries of Moviemaking Technology and Seeing How Many Crazy Things are Possible. With so Many Blockbuster Pieces Vying for Audiences’ Attention these Days, it would Certainly be Beneficial for "Genisys" if it was Able to Deliver Some Mind-Blowing Action Sequences that Recall Cameron’s Earlier Movies. 'Jay' Concluded by Saying that, he Thought the Script was “Epic” and Fans of the 1st 2 Movies should Find Plenty to Cheer about in this New Installment. Now, it Should be Noted that, these are just the Opinions of 2 Terminator Fans Who Allegedly Got Ahold of the "Genisys" Script. Who Knows if there are People with Less-than-Favorable Feelings about What was Written on the Page. However, if 'Jay' and 'Greg' are to be Believed, we May Have to Quell our Skepticisms of the Project.
