Bungie Hasn't Announced any Plans for a PC Version of "Destiny", which has been Confirmed for Both the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3, with Possible Next-Gen Platform Releases in Tow. Given the Prominence of Online Games — and Especially Shooters — on the Windows PC, One Would Assume that, Activision and Bungie would Have Taken the Platform under Serious Consideration.
Speaking to Destructoid, the Studio’s Co-Founder, Jason Jones, Reasoned that, the PC Wouldn't be a Suitable Platform for the First-Person Shooter, Simply because Nobody Plays Shooters with a Mouse and Keyboard.
He Reasoned that Gamers No Longer Played Shooters with a Mouse and Keyboard, Due to the Infectious Popularity of Halo.
“We did a bunch of ambitious things on Halo deliberately to reach out to people. We limited players to two weapons, we gave them recharging health, we automatically saved and restored the game – almost heretical things to first-person shooters at the time”, he Said.
“We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to.”
Really.
There’s a Chance that Jason Jones has been Entirely Out of Touch with the PC Gaming World Ever since Shifting his Studio’s Focus towards the Development of Console Games but, I’m Not Counting on that Being the Case.
More than likely, Jones is probably Too Proud of his wWork with Halo, to Admit that Gamers still Enjoy the Mouse and Keyboard as their Weapons of Choice — that and he Can’t Really Come Out and Say that, Activision-Blizzard Doesn’t Want to Release the Game on the PC because of Purely Business Reasons.
