"Motion Control Will Be Revived by VR", Says Sony

The Buzz around Motion Control Gaming has Subsided but, it will See a Resurgence When Virtual Reality Headsets, such as Sony's "Project Morpheus", Arrive. That's according to Sony Worldwide Studios Boss, Shuhei Yoshida, Who Said that, Sony's Own Motion-Sensing Wand, the PS Move Controller, was "Ahead of it's Time" and will Really Come into its Own, When VR Gaming Sparks a Call for Full 3D Motion Tracking. "Motion gaming was a big thing but, like with social games, dance games, music or guitar games, I don't think there's a lot of appetite for another motion game at this moment", he Said in a Chat with Pocket-lint. "However, what we are realizing ourselves is that PS Move was a bit ahead of its time - a precise and accurate 3D input device. We were very excited about the possibility of using 3D positional tracking to make games but, it's really hard to do so with a regular 2D screen", Added Yoshida.

"So, now we are realizing that when we do Project Morpheus the one thing you want to do immediately is interact with an object in virtual space and the one way to do that is that you need a 3D positioning input device, like PS Move." The PS Move Isn't the Only Peripheral that will be Given a New Lease of Life When "Project Morpheus" Arrives; the PS4 Camera, currently Mainly Used as a Webcam for Twitch Broadcasts, will be Required for Morpheus, as its Dual Array Stereoscopic Cameras will Provide Pinpoint Head Tracking Data. In Development for 3 Years, Sony Officially Revealed Morpheus at GDC in March, although the Device was Given Only Minimal Exposure during the Company's E3 Press Conference Last Month. PlayStation Chief, Andrew House, has Said that, Sony has Invested Significantly in upcoming PS4 Virtual Reality Headset.
