The Frequently in Flux World Record for Highest Score in Donkey Kong has been Beaten by a Relative Newcomer.
As Reported by the Donkey Kong Blog, Robbie Lakeman, Who has been Gunning for the High Score for the Last 2 Years, Beat Previous Record Holder, Hank Chien's Score of 1,138,600 by Recently Setting a New Record Score of 1,141,800 Points.
The High Score in Donkey Kong has Always been Highly Sought After but, Received an Explosion in Notoriety Thanks to the Documentary Film, The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters in 2007, which Followed the Heated Battle for the Record between Competitors Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell. Since the Release of that Film, the Title of Highest Score has Fluctuated between Mitchell and Wiebe, Tim Sczerby and Dr. Hank Chien – the Latter of which has had a Strong Grip on the Score for Some Time. 'Lakeman' Often Streams his High Score Attempts on Twitch (which you Can find here: http://www.twitch.tv/lakeman421 ) but, he Set his High Score while Recording a Run Offline.
