Unity Pro Engine Now Free to All Licensed PlayStation Developers

Sony has Announced that, All Registered PlayStation Developers, Can Now Use the Unity Pro Engine for Free. The Unity Engine has Become a Particularly Popular Technology over the Past 5 Years, Due in Part to the Rising Importance of Indie Games Development. Despite the Basic Version of Unity being Free to Download and Experiment with, Users Must Pay to Obtain Access to its More Advanced Tools. Engine Provider, Unity Technologies, Lists Numerous PS4 and Vita Games Built with Unity including BroForce, CounterSpy, Oddworld: New'N' Tasty, Volume, Escape Plan and Thomas Was Alone. Sony Computer Entertainment R&D Division Deputy President, Teiji Yutaka, Said: "Some of the most exciting and high quality games are being created in the vibrant indie community. We're happy to help ensure all developers have the same opportunities to create wonderful new experiences for our powerful PlayStation platforms". Unity Technologies CEO, David Helgason, Added: "We're already seeing amazing Unity-authored games coming out, as well as many more that are in production, for all of the PlayStation platforms. This is an exciting step to make this clear and easy and to guarantee that developers using Unity have a fantastic opportunity to participate in the PlayStation developer community".  In August, Unity also Extended its Partnership with Microsoft to Offer Free Unity Pro Access to All ID@XBox Developers.
