The Milestone was Reached in 42 Weeks, Making it, One of the Fastest Selling Consoles in UK History, Behind the Original Wii. Sony's 4th Console Got Off to an Impressive Start in the UK, When it Enjoyed the Most Successful Hardware Launch Ever in the UK, Selling 250,000 Units in the 1st Few Days and Overtaking the Wii U's Lifetime Total in the Country almost Immediately. The Company also Announced during Gamescom in August that, it had Reached 10 Million PS4 Sales Worldwide.


To Put its New UK Milestone into Perspective, its Predecessor PlayStation 3 Took 46 Weeks to Top 1 Million Sales, Whereas the PS2 did it in 50 Weeks and the XBox 360 Needed 60 Weeks. Even Handhelds, which Traditionally Enjoy Greater Lifetime Sales, Took Longer to Reach the Milestone. The Nintendo DS, the UK's Best-Selling System, Took just Over 11 Months to Hit a Million, Whereas its Successor the 3DS did it in around 14 Months. The Only System that Reached a Million Sales Faster than the PS4 was the Nintendo Wii, which Hit the Milestone in 38 Weeks: a Figure still Considered a UK Record.
